Description
When exposed to ultraviolet light, skin cells produce melanin in the base layer that exists in the lower layer of the epidermis to protect the skin. The melanin made this way is later raised to the skin exfoliating layer, causing the skin to look black.
Niacinamide acts as a lightening agent by blocking the path of melanin from the base layer to the corneal layer.
